another glasses tip

with 2 comments

This one is from Jeff Revell. His blog never disappoints. With this, and the last glasses tip, maybe I can stop having people take off the thing that is sometimes such a large part of their outward self. I’ll try this as soon as I have the opportunity, but I don’t understand why he didn’t just clone some of the skin out to the edges of the glass.

In other news…

A while back I bought a 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor lens. It probably has the most bang for the buck ($99) of any Nikkor lens on the market at the time. Photographers love these because they are so fast and so cheap. Mine has served me very well. These so-called ‘fast fifties’ also sport a focal length similar to the human eye, but only on a full frame sensor. The DX sensor, such as that on the D80 and D300, is smaller and therefore decreases the field of view. In other words, 50mm on a DX body acts more like an 85mm on an FX or full frame body.

Nikon has announced their 35mm f/1.8 prime that is made for DX sensors. This is closer to a 50mm lens on a full frame. Its got a silent wave motor and  focuses about a half a foot closer than my 50mm. And its only $199! This is the focus of my Nikon lust for the time being. Check out some of the first articles about this hot lens:
