Self-critique, University of Tampa

I don’t care for this photograph at all. Its composition is awkward and the subject is unclear. I’d like to see more of the channel and certainly more of the dome on the right. Yes, that is it. I should have gone wider and aimed lower. Forget the hazy horizon. It was the university and the channel I was after. Human eyes and emotions are capable of capturing the enormity of the entire scene. A photograph is not so capable.
To be fair (to myself), this image was not planned, even for a moment, before it was shot. Photographs like this are useful as a kind of sketch, a rough draft to see what might be there. I’ll go back and make it work next time. I’ll also forgo posting the link and the exposure data for now.
